As stated by Wikipedia, ‘Bruce Lee was a 1994 six-issue comic book miniseries published by Malibu Comics and written by Mike Baron and illustrated by Val Mayerik. It focused on a “fictional” Bruce Lee character striving his way through gangs and rival dojo owners, while building a movie career.’
To me, martial arts comics is a particular genre of comics. Look at such titles as Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, a very successful Marvel comic; The Deadly of Kung Fu (a martial arts comic book magazine published by Curtis Magazines, a short-lived imprint of Marvel Comics); Yang (a Charlton Comics title); Judomaster (Charlton Comics); and let’s not forget the current Marvel heroes Iron Fist and Elektra; Outside USA, there is the Japanese world of Manga comics, full of martial arts characters.
In future posts, I will feature some of the covers of the ‘martial arts’ comics that I have in my collection that I hope you, the reader, will enjoy seeing (possibly for the first time).
Let me know of your thoughts on this subject.
